Chronology of conversion
In the following timeline you will find a brief selection of the works carried out so far at the surface and underground in the Konrad mine.
Underground the southern and the northern parts of the emplacement transport gallery are connected. The mining term for this is cut-through.
To stabilise the Konrad 1 shaft, pipe brackets are mounted to which the new conveyor system is fastened.
Underground, the first emplacement chambers are driven with a road header.
New fencing is built around the Konrad 2 premises and shaft 2 is remediated with the help of a working platform.
A machine building is built for the new hoisting plant at Konrad 1 and large mining machines are mounted underground.
To check to see if there are any bombs left from World War II at the Konrad 2 premises, soundings are performed and the old machine building at Konrad 2 is dismantled.
A temporary hoisting frame is constructed for as long as the remediation works at shaft 2 will last.
The old hoisting frame at Konrad 2 is dismounted.
